Artwork Requirements & File Preparation
Perfect Prints Start With Perfect Files At Matrix DTF, we use state-of-the-art commercial printers to deliver vibrant, high-definition transfers. However, our machines print exactly what you upload. To ensure your custom transfers look incredible and have no background boxes, please follow these strict artwork guidelines before uploading.
1. Accepted File Format
- PNG Only: We require high-resolution PNG files with a 100% transparent background.
- Do not upload JPEGs. JPEGs do not support transparency, and if you upload one, the printer will print the solid white or black box behind your design.
2. Resolution & Sizing
- 300 DPI Minimum: Your artwork must be created and exported at 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch) at the exact size you want it printed.
- Scaling up a low-resolution image will result in a blurry, pixelated print. We do not resize or alter your artwork.
3. The Transparency Rule (No Soft Edges)
- DTF technology relies on a solid white ink underbase. Do not use drop shadows, glowing effects, or semi-transparent fades (opacity under 100%).
- Semi-transparent pixels will confuse the printer, resulting in harsh white ink dots behind your fading colors. Make sure all your pixels are 100% solid.
4. Minimum Line Thickness
-
For the white ink underbase to adhere properly to the adhesive powder, the thinnest lines in your design must be at least 0.02 inches (0.5 mm) thick. Anything thinner may not transfer correctly to the garment.
5. Color Matching (CMYK Process)
-
Our printers operate in CMYK color space. If you design in RGB (which looks super bright on digital screens), some neon or highly saturated colors may shift slightly when converted to physical CMYK ink. Please design with CMYK limitations in mind for the most accurate color representation.
⚠️ Disclaimer: Matrix DTF is not responsible for poor-quality prints resulting from low-resolution files, non-transparent backgrounds, or extremely thin lines. By uploading your artwork, you confirm it meets these requirements and that you hold the necessary copyright permissions to print the design.
